A former Chairman of Asari-Toru local government area, Ojukaye Flag-Amachree, has emerged the new State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State. The emergence of Ojukaye as the new Rivers State Chairman of APC came by way of affirmation from the party delegates in a State congress that began as early as 5am, Monday.
DAILY POST reports that the APC decided to conduct the State Congress early Monday morning following feelers that the Senator Magnus Abe group of the party may further cause a glitch to the congress using the court in the State. However, the decision to make Ojukaye the Chairman came after last-minute strategic meeting, presided over by Nigeria’s Transportation Minister, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, who is the leader of APC in South South region, and his think-tank.Ojukaye, who is a well-respected grassroots mobiliser and strong ally of Amaechi, takes over from Chief Davies Ibiamu-Ikanya who is expected to be part of the National Working Committee of the APC. Chief Emeka Bekee was returned as the Secretary of the party while Chris Finebone was also retained as the State Publicity Secretary of the APC in Rivers state.
