The leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has disowned a chieftain of the party Timi Frank over his open letter criticizing President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration. The APC’s response to Timi Frank’s criticism of the president was contained in a statement sent to NAIJ.com on Sunday, May 21 evening by the party’s spokesperson Bolaji Abdullahi. Abdullahi knocked Frank and said he had long ceased to be an important member of the party. He said:
“Our attention has been drawn to a report on the online newspaper, the cable.ng in which one Timi Frank was addressed as a ‘Chieftain’ of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“We wish to correct the wrong designation and remind the newspaper and indeed the general public that Timi Frank has since November 2016 been suspended as a member of the APC following a recommendation of an APC disciplinary committee and subsequent ratification by the Party’s South South Zonal Executive Committee.
“Hence, whatever position Timi Frank holds or canvasses is done in his personal capacity and has no bearing on the APC.” had reported that an outspoken chieftain of the APC from the south-south region of Nigeria, Timi Frank, wrote an open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday, May 20 to urge him to act fast on the poor state of the nation.
In the letter which was sent to NAIJ.com, Frank lamented the state of the economy, Nigeria’s human rights record under the present administration, killings across the country and the plight of ordinary Nigerians. Frank claimed that the economy was yet to fully recover from the recession and also accused the Buhari administration of failing to obey court orders.
