Abians are keenly watching the events playing out in recent times concerning the 4th term bid of Sen. Enyinnaya Abaribe.
To some of us who saw him as a modest, decent and calculative politician who was known with his ‘OTU ONU’- (ONE TERM) slogan, his inordinate ambition for a 4th term is a huge surprise. Many if us had thought that he will be wise enough to bow out now that the ovation is loudest.
To think that he can use his current ordeals to curry sympathy that may ferry him into a 4th Term is a wrong calculation that will diminish every little respect he has garnered over time.
The dummy Abaribe is trying to sell to the whole world to make us see him as the voice of Ndigbo will not work. Senator Abaribe represents Abia South and Not Ndigbo, all the senatorial zones in South East have Senators and it is insult on the collective sensibility of the other Igbo senators to say that one person speaks for Ndigbo and on their behalf.
Even in Abia, there is nothing so special Senator Abaribe has done that the other two Senators have not done…infact in terms of projects, Abaribe is a monumental failure given the state of infrastructure in a zone he has represented for 12 years.
So Abians are watching to see how all those who stood against Sen. Uche Chukwumerije’s 4th term bid will react to same ambition by Abaribe.
If PDP gives Abaribe a 4th Term Ticket then they should go to Chukwumerije’s Grave and apologize to him!
Abians are watching to see if PDP will allow a Local Government that has produced a third term senator and a Governor at the same time repeat same greedy feat to the detriment of the other 5 local Governments, especially the Aba Zone who are waiting to take their turns.
Let someone look Abaribe in the face and tell him to retire and pass on the baton.
Leadership is like a relay race and never a Marathon!
