He revealed that the current administration in Abia state has not been able to pay workers and tackle challenges facing the state.
Addressing APC faithful and his massive supporters at party’s Secretariat in Umuahia on Thursday, Dr. Ogah said he was contesting to make Abia State better, stressing that his primary aim is to improve on the welfare of the people.
He said, “Democracy, as a system of government, is meant for the purpose of securing, protecting, promoting good governance, accountability and the welfare of the citizens.
“Politicians are required to implement social reforms and policy measures that would contribute to the general welfare of the populace. Politicians play a central role in people’s lives; we represent the hopes, aspirations and the interests of every citizen in the state”.
He decried the inability of the PDP-led administration in the state to pay workers’ salaries despite the huge sums of money accrued to the state and promised if elected as governor to use his “wealth of experience in administration to ensure dividends of democracy gets to the doorsteps of all Abians.”
Ogah pledged to bring digital security network with technology, lamenting that state governments should stop running to Abuja for federal allocation account committee, FAAC but rather explore the inguinity of Igbo man given to him by God.
The president of masters energy stressed that Abia state needs radical transformation to restore the state back.
Also, the State Chairman of the party, Hon. Donatus Nwankpa insisted that the party will not impose anyone on the people of Abia, insisting on a level playing ground.
He advised all the aspirants to avoid inflammatory comments against one another, noting that every Abian has the right to run for the seat.
Nwankpa charged politicians to embrace politics as a sports where winners and losers accept the decision of the referee and described Uche Ogah as a disciplinarian and highly organized person.
