The former governor of Abia state, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu has hailed the objective and unbiased reportage of a leading online news platform, Abia Breaking News, describing it as ray of hope for online media practice in Nigeria.
He stated this at his palatial residence Neya in Igbere, Bende local government area of Abia state when the Director/Editor-in-chief Abia Breaking News and ABN TV Ifeanyi Okali in the company of his wife Lady Oluchi Ifeanyi paid him a courtesy visit on Wednesday. The fast recuperating Kalu who denied rumours that he was cloned said ABN’s style of reportage is in tandem with global journalistic standard.
“What Abia Breaking News is doing is in strict compliance with professional journalistic practice globally. You have remained unbiased and apolitical in your style of reportage. Nobody can accuse you of being sympathetic to any political party or group. This signals hope for online media practice and I think it’s worthy of emulation” he said.
Kalu noted that online media practice has come to stay in today’s society. He said that the ease in accessing online news either in print or electronic format across the world has made it a darling of everyone. He also praised the recently launched online TV and radio wings of Abia Breaking News, saying its indicative of visionary management. He charged the managers of the platform to sustain the pace of professionalism they have set. He thanked the ABN boss and his family for the visit.
In his response, ABN TV boss, Mr. Okali expressed gratitude for the kind encouragement of the former governor. He vowed that he and his team will sustain the strict professional standards which he said has set the platform on the pedestal of uniqueness.
The visit is coming few days after the announcement of the return of the former governor from a medical trip in Germany where he had gone for the treatment of an undisclosed ailment. He thanked Abians for their prayer and support while he was away. The Okalis also prayed for Kalu’s speedy recovery.
