Presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, has promised to restore the lost economic glory of Kano State.

Addressing mammoth crowd during his campaign rally at Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano on Sunday, Mr. Atiku said if elected president of Nigeria come February 16, he would revive commercial activities of the state.

The former vice president also promised to revive agriculture, which, according to him, the state had been known for.

Mr. Atiku further noted that Kano which had been prominent in industrialization had been in a state of comatose.

The presidential hopeful, therefore, promised to revamp the industries in order to create job opportunities for the teeming youth.

“If you vote for me, I promise you that I will revive your lost economic glory. We all know that Kano is prominent in terms of commercialization agriculture and industrialization. But all these are in a state of comatose.

“If you vote for me, I will revamp all your industries, commercial activities, and agriculture. I will bring peace and harmony in your state. I, therefore, call on you to come out on mass on February 16 to vote for PDP in all elective positions, from top to down,” he said.

In his remarks, the National leader of PDP, Uche Secondus, said that with the crowd in attendance at the rally, he was convinced that there was “revolution” going on in the state, as people were ready to change the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

Mr. Secondus also stressed that APC could not afford to rig elections in the state, urging the supporters to translate the support at ballot boxes.

“What I see now is a revolution. I am satisfied that Kano is a PDP state. This gathering is a revolution. As such, APC will dare not rig elections here. I urge you to come out en masse to vote for PDP from top to down,”

Earlier in a remark, the former governor of the state, Rabi’u Kwankwaso urged the people of Kano to vote out APC.

Mr Kwankwaso, who spoke briefly as a result of the crowd that stormed the podium, expressed optimism that his in-law, Abba Kabiru Yusuf is the next governor of the state in March.
