Concern Citizens for A Better Abia (CCBA), a non partisan organization in collaboration with Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Abia State chapter and other Civil Society Organizations have unanimously endorsed the candidacy of Dr Alex Otti for Governor of Abia State at Terminus Hotel, Aba, Abia State on the 9th February, 2019 ahead of the forth coming gubernatorial election on the 2nd March, 2019.

The summit which started in the evening with an opening prayer by Rev Chidi Daniel Achu and was headed by the National Coordinator of Concern Citizens for a Better Abia (CCBA), Sir Dave Agwalla thanked everybody for showing concern for a better Abia State and to put a stop to Godfatherism which has kept the state in its current dilapidated state and has also made the state rated as one of the most underdeveloped state in South East and Nigeria at large.

In his statement, Sir Dave Agwala noted that it is disheartening statistics that the number of Abians who voted outside Abia State especially in Lagos State in the 2015 elections were more than the number of Abians in Abia. This necessitated the call for Abians to come together to vote and vote rightly.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) member while speaking at the summit noted that it’s part of their policy to vote out any government that is not paying salaries and they have their PVC to do justice during the general election but will not endorse any candidate here but to observe the process and give their input on issues concerning the state.

Participants at the conference, who took time to speak on several issues, including agricultural revolution, participation in politics and protection of votes.

Mr Felix Okeke and Mrs Nkiru Ogbudimkpa spoke about the reasons for the organization to adopt a candidate for the gubernatorial election and it was seconded by Dr Uzoma.

The adoption of Dr Alex Otti was put to vote after a heated debate on change on new Abia. Over 90 percent of the attendees voted for Dr Alex Otti while the rest voted for Dr Uche Ogah and rejected to vote for the incumbent Governor because the government has shown no concern about them. So, the group agreed that their votes will be protected and nothing will change their votes this time.

The summit came to an end at about 2am with a huge celebration with the attendees rejoicing and celebrating Alex Otti’s endorsement.
