Two men namely Zacheaus Solomon and Ogedengbe Kennedy have been remanded in prison by an Ikeja Chief Magistrates court sitting in Lagos on monday for allegedly defiling a 9year old girl
The Magistrate, Olufunke Sule-Amzat who denied the defendant’s pleas ordered the suspects to be remanded in Kirikiri Prison and the file of the case should be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.
The case was adjourned till 6th of June, 2019 by the magistrate.
The defendants, whose addresses were not provided, are facing a four-count charge bordering on conspiracy, assault and defilement, NAN reports.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Asp. Benson Emuerhi, told the court that the defendants committed the offence sometime in 2014 at Igando, a suburb in Lagos.
Emuerhi alleged that the defendants sexually assaulted the girl.
“The duo unlawfully and indecently assaulted the 9-year-old girl and defiled her.
He said the case was reported to the police at Ikotun Police Division by the girl’s mother.
According to the prosecutor, the offence contravened Sections 135, 137 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015 and Sections 10 and 27 of the Child’s Rights Law of Lagos State.
