Leaders and Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress(APC) Ndume ibeku ward in Umuahia north local government area of Abia state, has called for of the post of the Speaker in the soon-to-be inaugurated 7th State House of Assembly to Abia central senatorial district of the state.

This came following the politicking over the position of the Speaker of the upcoming Abia 7th Assembly, most especially among leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in the state.

Addressing newsmen shortly after its enlarged stakeholders meeting held in Umuahia, on Wednesday morning, Prince Nnanna Odum, who spoke on behalf of others, opined that the speakership should be ceded to the Abia central, as Abia North and Abia South produced the current governor and his deputy, Hon. Ude Oko Chukwu.

He emphasized that allowing somebody from the Abia central senatorial district to occupy the number three seat in Abia a, would strengthen the charter of equity being propagated and projected by the ruling PDP in the state.

According to the leaders,”It will be a slap to the sensibility of the people of the senatorial zone. It will be an affront if the ruling party retain the current speaker, whom they claimed has served and represented the Ngwa extraction from the Abia central.

“The post of the Abia speaker should be retained in Abia central zone. Because, it is the turn of the Umuahia north local government area to produce 7th speaker of the State Assembly. It will be equitable and just, if Umuahia bloc is supported to produce next speaker of the 7th house”.

The leaders also used the opportunity to disclose its choice candidate for the Speakership position, and however declared their supports to the present majority leader of State assembly, and a PDP chieftain, Hon. Chinedum Orji, endorsing him(Orji) to occupy the exalted position in the state’s hallow chamber come June.

They finally admonished the people of Ukwa/Ngwa extraction to support the Umuahia bloc take its turn, as that will deepen the political stability and equations of Abia politics.
