The Indegenous People of Biafra (IPOB) recent attacked the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief John Nnia Nwodo, accusing him supporting the ‘genocide’ killing of unarmed people of the Igbo Extraction in the name of carrying out a ‘python dance’ by President Buhari’s led administration and Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Buratai
Chief John Nnia Nwodo, the President of Ohaneze Worldwide, if ndi Igbo can still remember, was one of the three prominent Igbos who cried out very louldy & strongly, condemned the “Python Dance” or war dance aimed at dehumanising, decimating or completely extinguishing the IPOB and its leadership.
While the other two, Dr Alex Otti and former Anambra Gov, Chief Emeka Ezeife, issued very strongly worded statements, respectively, condemning the unnecessary & evil war dance, Chief Nnia Nwodo sustained his fight all through the duration of that war dance by granting international press conferences, radio & tv interviews.
He openly and courageously called on the federal government to stop the killing of innocent civilians in chase of an unarmed group in the south east.
Chief Nwodo accused the federal government of genocide, called the attention of the international community to the unjust war that resulted in many civilian casualties/fatalities and even threatened instituting a legal action at the international court at the Hague against the Nigerian government & its military.
This spirited fight by Chief Nwodo which was fought in the open, echoed and reverberated across the world as Nigerians in the diaspora joined through street demonstations, the social media and other available means against the unjust war. Chief Nwod fought like no other and as a good father would, against those who came after his children.
To contemplate that a day would come when any sane Igbo man or woman or the leader of the “unjustly” proscribed body, IPOB, for that matter, will raise a voice against Chief Nnia Nwodo over allegations of complicity in whatever shape or form, would have been unthinkable indeed.
Given the sincere love and uncompromising position of the Ohaneeze President on issues that concern the Igbos, not only in this country, but across the world, it is both heart breaking and very regretable that an organisation which seeks legitmacy or derives it’s origin from the plight of the people of the southeast will turn around to fight the symbol of Igbo unity, the most revered, respected & effective leadership we presently have.
This attack will sure leave ndi Igbo to wonder who is a good man in the eyes of IPOB and who or what they are fighting for.
Chief Nnia Nwodo should be shown love and support by all true sons and daughters of the Igbo race all over the world at this time and always. There should, infact, be an incentive to truely and honestly serve one’s people. We should all rise united in reprobation of an unjust and unwarranted attack on our leader who means well and is constantly engaged in a war against the enemies of his people.
We equally expect a retraction from the leadership of IPOB in the interest of the same people they claim to be fighting for.
My take.
