The Minister of State for Works and Housing, Abubakar Aliyu, has said that the Federal Government would deliver 20 million housing units for the citizens by 2033.
He stated this during an inspection of 764 Abuja mass housing project in Zuba handled by Federal Housing Authority (FHA), which has reached 75 per cent completion.
According to Aliyu, the government is embarking on the project to meet with nation’s housing deficit, adding that they are targeting 100,000 to one million houses per annum.
The minister also explained that the Federal Government housing estates would be replicated in other states to cater for low and middle -income earners in the country.Aliyu, an engineer, equally added that Abuja mass housing project was a pilot scheme, aimed at removing challenges, such as cost and land administration, being faced by citizens, promising to sort out these aspects.
Receiving the minister, the Project Manager, Ibrahim Shuaibu disclosed that the project was conceived in 2017, with Zuba and Gwagwalada as pilot sites.
The project is scheduled for commissioning this year. He commended the minister for visiting the housing project, adding that with the zeal and enthusiastic exhibited, the houses would be ready as scheduled.
