The Governor of Abia State, DrOkezie Ikpeazu, on Sunday, made another donation of relief materials to the people of Isu, in Arochukwu Local Government Area that were displaced from their abodes as a result of a communal clash between the community and another in Cross River State.
Governor Ikpeazu, who was represented by the Hon. Commissioner for Women Affairs, Chief Mrs Ukachi Amala, assured the people that the state government will continue to liaise with all relevant federal agencies to settle the boundary dispute and resettle them back to their communities.
The Governor who commended Isu community for their oneness, assured them that no part of Abia State will experience any form of invasion from neighboring communities and State, even after he must have left office in 2023.
Handing over the relief materials to them at the palace of the Eze, Dr Ogbonnaya Eze, Governor Ikpeazu assured of his Government’s continuous support during and after their trying times.
Praying for the souls of those that died during the attack to find rest, Governor Ikpeazu promised to train the women of the community in any skill of their choice and urged those interested to go to the State Ministry of Women Affairs for proper documentation.
In his speech, the traditional ruler of Isu Kingdom, Eze Ogbonnaya Eze, narrated how the neighboring Cross River community invaded them after efforts to have them become one of them failed, thanked the Governor for all his support. He noted that the State has shown huge concern in their affairs even as he thanked the Governor for sponsoring a medical outreach in Isu community that ended only on Friday last week.
On behalf of the youths, the Transition Committee Member representing Isu ward, Mr Kalu Okorie, thanked Governor Ikpeazu for ensuring the deployment of security agencies to secure their lives and property.
Mr Okorie, while thanking the Governor for appointing their son and daughters into various political offices, praised him for particularly appointing Mrs Ezinne Grace Chijioke as the Education Secretary of Arochukwu LGA.
He further thanked the Governor for all his support and appealed to him to continue his good works in Isu, Arochukwu and the entire Abia State.
On behalf of the women, Mrs Ezinne Grace Chijioke, thanked Governor Ikpeazu and his wife, Deaconess Nkechi Ikpeazu, and assured them that the women of Isu will never cease to support and pray for them and the Government of Abia State.
