Justice4Chima: Group Accuses Koffi Bartel Of Allegedly Collecting N5m Bribe

A group known as The Rivers Movement For Justice has accused Koffi Bartel, an On Air Personal with Nigeria Info of collecting bribe of N5m for bringing down the image of Rivers State Police Command over the death of late Chima Ikunado, a mechanic at Ikoku who was allegedly murdered, and tortured to death by Mile 1 e-crack team in Rivers State, profjaysblog learnt.

In a statement signed by the Secretary General of the group, Mr Gabriel Aluke asked Stream Broadcasting Limited, the owners of Wazobia, Cool FM and Nigeria Info Radio Station where the OAP works to order his personal vested interest in bringing down the Police Force in Rivers State, profjaysblog reports.

The group alleged that Koffi Bartel has collected part of the installment and the remaining balance would be paid to him after the execution of the job.

According to the group, Koffi Bartel’s conduct has been unprofessional regarding the case of the late Ikoku mechanic, Chima Ikunado and the his colleagues who were arrested, detained and tortured by the e-crack team.

The death of the ikoku mechanic, Late Chima Ikunado is quite unfortunate and regrettable and a thorough investigation into the cause of his death must be carried out and made known to the public, the group says.

The group alleged that Koffi Bartel has taken the issue to be a personal matter and has consistently attacked the police force and drawn public sympathy through his Radio Show and has been biased, one sided and unprofessional in information dessimination which is capable of throwing the state in anarchy.

They noted that other media houses have done balanced report on the matter but koffi has constantly gone against Broadcasting rules to achieving the media campaign of calumny and deceit for which he was alledgely hugely paid for.

The group is using this medium to call on Stream Broadcasting Limited to restrain the radio personality, Koffi Bartel from on air activities with immediate effect to allow for a more balanced report on issues as he has been alledgely paid by top criminals in the state whose aim it is to ridicule and weaken the force with which the Nigerian police is tackling violence in Rivers State.

The group noted that the call by Koffi Bartel for the immediate redeployment of the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, and resignation of the state Police Public Relation Office, Nnamdi Omoni and the prosecution of former e-crack commander is uncalled for as the force is yet to conclude on their investigations, and this for the group is biased and unprofessional media practice, personal attacks on the Commissioner of Police and his team, profjaysblog learnt.

It is therefore calling on the Head of station of Wazobia Cool FM Nigeria Info PHC and national headquarters in Lagos, to investigate the alleged biased and unprofessional conduct of Koffi Bartel in this matter to invite the public against the police and alledged bribe of N5 million to execute this job so as to weaken the force and allow criminals take over the state.

The group understands that Koffi was paid one part of three installments, and the other two installments the group claims will follow in a bit after execution, an embarrassment to the media profession.
