Prof Mkpa Agu Mkpa has been inaugurated as the Chairman of Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC) by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu at the Executive Chamber of Government House, Umuahia.
Speaking during the inauguration, Governor Ikpeazu who was represented by his Deputy, Rt Hon Ude Oko Chukwu, charged Prof Mkpa to ensure the conduct of a credible, free and fair local government election in the state before the end of September 2020. He assured that the Government will give all necessary support to ABSIEC to ensure the smooth conduct of the polls to strengthen democracy at the grassroots level.
In his acceptance speech, Prof Mkpa expressed appreciation to the Governor and the people of the state for the confidence reposed on him and assured that he would be fair to all Abians irrespective of political affiliation. He further assured that he belongs to no political party and therefore will discharge his duties without political bias and reiterated that ABSIEC under his watch will conduct the freest and fairest LGA polls in the history of the State.
