The O.B Lulu-Briggs Foundation, in partnership with the African women Lawyers Association Rivers State Chapter and UNICEF distributed relief materials to men of the Nigerian Army and the widows of their fallen heroes at 6th Division of the Nigerian Army, Bori Camp, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
They presented bags of rice and cartons of hand sanitizers to the men of the Nigerian Army and the widows of their fallen heroes to cushion the effects of the covid-19 pandemic currently ravaging the country and the world at large.
The General Officer Commanding 6th Division of Nigerian Army, I. K Adio and the officer commanding the 6th Division Port Harcourt F. O Agugo thanked the O.B Lulu-Briggs Foundation, and their partners AWLA and UNICEF for their magnanimity towards their men and the widows of their fallen heroes during the period of covid-19 pandemic.
Speaking further, he assured the foundation that this gesture will not be abused as the palliatives will be distributed to everyone accordingly.
He also advised the general public to adhere to the directives of the World Health Organization (WHO), Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) to always wash their hands under a running water with soap or apply hand sanitizers and also observe social distancing by all times in other to prevent the spread of the covid-19.
Speaking at the event, the secretary of African Lawyers Women Association (ALWA), Rivers State Chapter, Hilda Desmond-Ihekaire Esq , said the
O.B Lulu-Briggs Foundation is also in partnership with African Lawyers Women Association (ALWA), Rivers State Chapter to give the widows of the fallen heroes legal advise where necessary.
Mrs Hilda Desmond-Ihekaire also seized the opportunity to thank the Nigerian Army Officers Wife’s Association (NAOWA) for taking care of the hardest part of the army job which is taking care of the widows of the fallen heroes. She encouraged them to practice frequent hand washing and use of sanitizer to prevent further spread of the Covid 19 virus. According to her the visit is compliment the efforts of the NAOWA and they will always be coming around once the covid-19 pandemic is over with the backing of Chief Mrs Seinye Lulu-Briggs who has a heart of Gold.
The delegation was led by the Chief of Staff to Dr (Mrs) Seinye O.B Lulu-Briggs, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of thd Foundation, Dr Miebaka Nabiebu and Mrs Ineba Ideriah the coordinator for programmes. They sent the felicitations of Chief Mrs Seinye O.B Lulu Briggs who was unavoidably absent.
The O.B Lulu-Briggs Foundation and their partner AWLA also visited the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Mr Mustapha Dandaura and also distributed bags of rice and hand sanitizers to his men.
