COVID-19: Wike Cancels Total Lockdown in Rivers State

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has cancelled the total lockdown in Obio Akpor and Port Harcourt Local Government Areas, profjaysblog learnt.

During a live broadcast at the Government house in Port Harcourt, the Governor told newsmen that the total lockdown which was supposed to start tomorrow Wednesday 27th May, 2020 in Obio Akpor and Port Harcourt Local Government Areas has been cancelled, hence, movements of people and vehicle will be allowed to another parts to the State, profjaysblog reports.

The Governor further stated that the State borders remained closed and compulsory wearing of face masks is still effective as anyone found guilty will be prosecuted accordingly.

Recall that the Governor had earlier lifted the total lockdown sometimes last week so that residents can restock between Thursday and Tuesday 26th May, 2020.

As at today, the total number of COVID-19 in Rivers State has sky rocketed to over 100 cases which made the State to overtake many states and became number one COVID-19 epicenter in South South of Nigeria.
