Gov Dave Umahi, An Oasis and Pride of The Igbo Nation

The people of Southeast are happy and proud of the unprecedented, larger than life and record setting achievements of one of their own, the Ebonyi State Gov, Engr Dave Nweze Umahi.

The people of the region are bewildered, to say the least, at the uncommon level of development, first of its kind anywhere, not in any recent or past memory.

The story of Dubai, the business hub of United Arah Emirate, which was a desert not long ago, precisely before the current leader of that country came to power, is a current wonder of the world and can be lickened to what’s going on in Ebonyi State.

Today, Dubai is one of the most beautiful, fastest developing economic cities in the world. A dersert that had no single tree, today has the largest skyscraper clusters outside New York City & Shanghai. It is home to the only 7-Star hotel in the world. This was a dream that a leader realised in his life tim & while still in office. This is not far from what is happening in Ebonyi state.

A state created about 24 years ago and has struggled through different leaderships to find its feet among committee of states. It has finally arrived. Take UAE to be SER (SOUTH EAST REGION) and Dubai to be Ebonyi. What has happened or is happening in Ebonyi, in just 5 years that Gov Dave Umahi has been in power, is the first of its kind in any African city, ever. People are asking how it is possible that a state in Nigeria, ranked among the poorest in the country and the last to be created from two older states, could achieve so much in such little a time. A documentary currently running and gone viral in Nigeria, across Africa and the worldover, is every bit the story of Ebonyi state under the able, capable and vissionary leadership of Gov Dave Umahi, the pride of the people of Southeast region. Things people though were impossible, are happening before their eyes by dint of hard work, vission & mission of an effective and examplary leadership. A leadership that is setting the pace by all development indices;
In massive physical infrastruture development, across an entire state, he is number one.

In city beautification, modernisation and functionality, especially Abakaliki, the state capital, he is second to none.

In the education and health sectors, with the largest and most sophisticated referral specialist hospital, currently being developed in the state, he has no close rival.

In Agriculture & food production, haven since surpassed the national food security standard, he leads. In human capital development, he is in a league of his own.

How Gov Umahi has been able to achieve all these to lead the region & ahead of every other state in this country, with paltry receipts as federal allocation and almost a non existent internally generated revenue IGR, remains the biggest wonder of our current democratic dispensation. To state it mildly, no region or state has seen this quantum of development activities since Nigeria’s independence. The masses of Ebonyi state, who demonstrate love for their selfless leader at any given opportunity and are described as the happiest people in the country, is a testimony to the facts.

Take a trip to Abakaliki, the state capital, with more flyovers than the entire southern Nigeria cities put together & more public lighting effects than the entire south east capitals & see things for yourself.

Achieving so much in the most auster time in our history & doing so very quietely, in a world filled with very loud celebrities, is the mystry of Governor Dave Nweze Umahi.
