We the Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL), the umbrella body of all the youth organizations in the South East zone have observed with delight the efforts of South East Governors namely Governor David Nweze Umahi, the governor of Ebonyi State, Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, the governor of Abia State, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, the governor of Enugu State, Governor Willie Obiano, the governor of Anambra State and Governor Hope Uzodinma, the governor of Imo State for their efforts in handling the present economic hardship caused by this uninvited novel pandemic COVID – 19 by way of giving out palliatives to Churches, communities and some groups as well.

This is indeed a welcome development that has brought to bear the words of martin Luther** The Ultimate measure of a man is not in times of comfort but in times of crisis. Yes, you people have demonstrate that true leadership involves the ability to carry your people along even in the most challenging moment ( s). It is our hope that this gesture will continue while we pray that in the shortest possible time , this danger will be conquered.

Our searchlight beamed also on so many other well meaning citizens cum philanthropists who have also assisted by showing Gracia to government , groups, individuals etc by way of giving palliatives also….some of them like Senator Theodore Ahamefula Orji (Ochendo Global) Senator representating Abia central senatorial zone, Dr Uchechukwu Ogar , minister of state for Solid Minerals, Chief Greg Ibe, Chief Arthur Eze, Chief Innocent Chukwuma, Chief Tony Chukwu (Chairman/CEO RUUDO Construction), Chief Chukwueloka Gidwin Agbasimelo, Chief Leo Stan EKeh (Chairman/CEO Zinox Computers), Senator Ifeanyi Uba (Chairman Capital Oil), Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji (Speaker Abia House of Assembly), Chief Chika Emenike (Kotec and Tummy Tummy Noodles), just to mention a few are worthy to be mentioned for painstakingly going extra mile to assist in this regard.

The youths are the most hit of these pandemic as many of them survive on daily hustle. So this lockdown has grossly affected their chances of going out to get daily food for their families and dependants.

However, youths have not received palliative(s), neither from government nor any individual donor. This is not a welcome development as the youths is the life wire of every society. It must not be taken for granted that youths are more affected by this pandemic because they more or less make up the work force. So efforts should be made to see that the interest of the youths is carried along especially at this time, after all, what is good for the goose is also good for the gander”” .In this way ,the expected result and efforts of government and individuals will continuously yield a positive result.

Signed:

Hon. Goodluck Egwu Ibem
President General (COSEYL)

Comrade Kanice Igwe
Secretary General

Comrade Okey Nwaoru
Asst. Secretary General
