Rivers State has recorded twenty four (24) new cases of coronavirus (covid-19) in the state as reported by Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) on their official website and monitored by profjaysblog.

Recall that the index case of covid-19 in Rivers State happened sometimes in March 2020 when a girl suspected to be a 19 year old and a model ‘sneaked’ into the state unchecked with the virus haven traveled to some of the affected countries before coming into the country.

Ever since then, there have been an increasing number of the virus in the state despite series of lotal lockdown in some Local Government Areas of the state by the State Governor, Bar Nyesom Wike.

As at the time of this report, 7th June 2020, profjaysblog gathered that the total number of cases (lab confirmed) in Rivers State is 332, while total number of cases of admission in the state is 183, then, total number of discharged patients is 130 and the total number of deaths recorded so far is now 19.

The number of covid-19 in Rivers State has skyrocketed within these few months, though, if compared with other states with population and commercial activities like Rivers State, then, the cases of the virus is not a bad one but more measures needs to be put in place to lower the curve of the virus in the State and country respectively.

Currently, Lagos State, FCT, and Kano State are topping the number of most affected states with covid-19 in the country with a very high number of cases being recorded on daily basis.

The virus was able to spread like a fire because our security agents with the responsibilities to man the borders started receiving bribes at the border, allowing both carriers and non carriers of this virus to come into the states freely and making community spread of the virus an easy one.

Stay safe, stay responsible.
