Abia State Records 67 New Cases of COVID-19

Abia State has recorded 67 new cases of COVID-19 as announced by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) and monitored by profjaysblog.

The announcement was made on the official and verified Twitter account of the commission late night of 7th of June, 2020.

The country actually recorded 260 new cases out of which Abia State recorded the highest, 67, followed by FCT with 40 new cases and Lagos with 38 new cases.

According to Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC), the total number of cases (lab confirmed) in Abia State is put at 83, while the total number on admission is put at 76, with 7 covid-19 patients discharged so far and no death has been recorded in the state, profjaysblog learnt.

Recall that Abia State Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu some days ago stated that their may be a spike in the number of covid-19 cases in South East, and, days later, Abia State decided to top the list of new cases.

This is the very first time Abia State is recording this high number of covid-19 cases ever since the virus came into the country sometimes in February, 2020.

With this, profjaysblog, assumed that there must have been a major Community transmission of this virus in the state.

Stay safe, stay responsible.
