Coalition of Igbo Groups Shortlist Amaechi, Umahi, Obi for 2023 Presidency

Coalition Of Igbo Groups, namely World Igbo Youth Congress, Southeast Women Professionals and Igbo Students Union had described the decision of Arewa Youths to form an alliance with Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide towards the build up for a New Political Movement on to Salvage the Current insecurity Challenges that bedevilled Our Country Nigeria which is a threat to our democracy.

This is an affirmative action that both largest Groups in Nigeria will definitely present a consensus candidate in 2023, even though both Groups were silent on where the consensus candidate will surely emerge from. 

Coalition of Igbo Groups, made their resolutions known after their meetings with the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide in Abakiliki, Ebonyi State. The signatories of the resolutions are, Mazi Alex Okemiri (President, World Igbo Youth Congress), Dr Mrs Helen Ogbonnaya, (leader, Southeast Women Professionals) and  Comrade Chidi Ugwunjo (President, Igbo Students Union), re-emphasized that Igbo Presidency project 2023 are the most equitable and justifiable crusade that will make Nigeria survive from disintegration and disaster that poses against her collective existence. The leaders of the coalition urged OYC to continue to build bridges across the country as Igbo Presidency project is a Nigerian project. 

The Coalition commended APC Caretaker Committee Chairman, Yobe Governor Mai Buni, for zoning the Party Chairmanship to North, which means the Presidential ticket will be South, and we expect PDP to also emulate APC and zone the Presidential ticket to South.

With this development, the coalition after deliberation on the issues extensively in line with igbos interests, present, Rt Hon  Chibuike Amaechi (Rivers) Dr Ogbonnaya Onu (Ebonyi), Governor David Nweze Umahi (Ebonyi) and  Mr Peter Obi (Anambra) PDP and  others .

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide President General Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, represented by the Deputy President General, Comrade Obinna Achionye, commended the decisions of Coalition of Igbo Groups for their patriotism and support for Igbo Presidency Project 2023.

We wish to categorically state that in 2003, when General Muhammadu Buhari, who was the then ANPP Presidential Candidate with late Sen Chuba Okadigbo as running mate, he made a prophetic statement that will surely come to fulfilment in 20 years after he made this prophecy, by 2023.

President Muhammadu Buhari declared in 2003,” that he’s destined by Allah and nature to be the person that will democratically handover Presidency to an Igbo man”.

OYC insists that the best way to address the myriad of issues threatening the existence of Nigeria will be solved through the collective responsibility of Nigerians led by a sincere and loyal Igbo man or woman as President in 2023.

We are still in talks with two major political parties in Nigeria, and APC had yielded to Igbo Youths pressure and the Presidential ticket is for the South, and PDP hopefully will do the needful. We will study the names submitted by the coalition and will recommend only two names for the two biggest Political parties, one for APC and one for PDP,  by using some parameters  to check the acceptance of each individual to Nigerians, track record of achievements, wealth creation for the Youths in the past and administrative prowess.  

OYC is interested in forging alliance with the New Political Movement led 30 Prominent Nigerians, any progressive movement aimed at enthronement of Good Governance will surely be Supported by Igbo Youths.
