An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court, on Wednesday, ordered the remand of a 50-year-old man, Usman Tajudeen, within the Ado-Ekiti Correctional Centre for alleged defilement.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Monica Ikebuilo, told the court that the defendant allegedly defiled a four-year-old girl on August 21, 2020, in Ikere-Ekiti.
Ikebuilo said, “The defendant and therefore the victim’s parents were neighbours. The victim’s mother noticed that blood was beginning from the victim’s genitalia . When the mother asked her, she confessed that the defendant invited her to his house.
“The offence contravenes Section 31(2) of the kid Right Law of Ekiti State, 2012.”
She urged the court to remand Tajudeen within the correctional centre pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The court didn’t take the plea of the defendant.
Chief Magistrate Adefumike Anoma adjourned the case till September 18 for mention.
Anoma, in another development, ordered the remand of a 31-year-old man, Ajayi Paul, for allegedly robbing a person of his motorcycle on August 29, 2020, in Ado Ekiti, and adjourned the case till September 18 for mention.
