Abia Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Emeka Ikwuagwu Meets With Parliamentarian Nominees

As a prelude to the inauguration of a brand new Abia State Youth Parliament, the state Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Chief Emeka George Ikwuagwu has held a meeting with the 24 parliamentarian nominees representing the 24 state constituencies at his office.


Addressing the parliamentarian hopefules, the commissioner said the youth Parliament in the state will be inaugurated soon after the nominees would have undergone the required training and orientation.

He pointed out that the nominees were painstakingly selected to ensure equity, integrity, proficiency and gender balancing and charged the nominees to see their selection as a great opportunity to contribute their quota to the upliftment of their various constituencies, youths and Abia State in general.

He remarked that the constitution of the Youth Parliament was a further demonstration of Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu commitment to better the lots of Abia youths and involve them in administration adding that the nominees involvement in parliamentary duties could form a launching pad to greater political attainment.


He urged them to embrace the opportunity with discipline and dedication and strive to make Abia State proud.
Chief Ikwuagwu admonished them to eschew undue radicalism but to work as a team to justify the reason for their selection.

Also present at the meeting were the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Elder Ikpeoha Friday, Directors of the Ministry and Abia State representatives at the National Parliament, Honourable Ifeanyi Umere and Honourable Mcjohnson.

Some of the Parliament nominees who spoke during the meeting expressed gratitude to Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu for throwing his weight behind the formation of the Abia State Youth Parliament and the Youth and Sports Commissioner for bringing the governor’s vision to fruition and promised to make the state proud.
