Police Brutality: We Will Ensure Victims Get Justice, Retired Justice Imo Tells Abians

The Abia State Panel of Inquiry on Police Brutality, extra Judicial Killings and other related matters, has assured members of the public of justice for those who have experienced brutality in the hands of the police in the State.

The Chairman of the Panel, retired Justice Sunday Imo, who stated this on Tuesday during the Inaugural Sitting of the panel, at the Aguiyi Ironsi Conference Centre, stated that justice is truth in action, adding that through their deliberations, it is believed that all brutalities will be checked.

Retired Imo, who stated that justice is a means of checking injustices are eliminated from the society, promised to work with the mandate given to the panel by the Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, while also thanking him for finding members of the panel worthy of the assignment.

He also charged people making entry, to register their entries with decorum, adding that the processes of lodging complaints, is open to members of the public.

In their separate remarks, Mrs Eunice Nwaigwe, Iroabughike Prince and Mr Boniface Okoro who spoke on behalf of Women Societies of Nigeria, Youth and Nigeria Union of Journalists respectively, urged the panel to discharge their duties fairly while also ensuring that all the complainants get Justice.
