The Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP concludes screening of the gubernatorial aspirants of the South South States in preparation for the primary election scheduled for May 21, 2023.
Chairman of the screening committee and governor of Bayelsa state, Sen. Duoye Diri assured a level playing field for all aspirants as mandated by the party, upholding the core democratic practices enshrined in the party’s constitution. At the end of the exercise he stated that all the aspirants that interfaced with the panel performed exceptionally well.
The exercise which was scheduled for April 28, extended to April 29 due to the large number of aspirants in the contest.
Delta State has 15 aspirants jostling for the number one seat in the state, Cross river has 11, Akwa Ibom 14, Rivers state has 17, including a female aspirant. A total of 57, out of which 56 were successfully screened.
With the successful screening of all aspirants, attention has shifted to the primaries fixed for May 21,2022.
