Breaking News: The Uncertainty in The Akwa Ibom PDP Guber Primaries; The Omitted Name and Scores

Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held her governorship primary elections across the country except in some states that will not be going into the electoral field next year. Akwa Ibom State PDP was not exempted as her primaries was held at Godswill Akpabio’s Stadium Uyo, under the Chairmanship of the Deputy Governor of Edo State, Rt Hon Philip Shaibu.

The exercise started with an accreditation of all available PDP Governorship aspirants in the likes of Mr Umo Bassey Eno and wife, who are also Delegates respectively ( The anointed One ). Mr Ide Owodiong, Mr Akan Okon, Dr Ani Wellington, Mr David Okpon, Mr James Aniema etc, and their agents, except in the likes of Hon Dr Michael Enyong aka Baban ntan, Hon Onofiok Luke and Senator Bassey Albert aka OBA. Tags were issued to them with their names and photographs on their tags.

The Chairman of Committee, Rt Hon Philip Shaibu, stood up to address all the aspirants after calling their names, he announced to them that all the 31 Local Government had a total number of 1,018 delegates present in the stadium, and all the 14 cleared names appeared on the balloting for the Akwa Ibom State PDP Governorship primary elections.

Rt Hon Philip Shaibu who was the Chairman publicly announced the results after collations with a total no of vote casted including voided votes to be 1018 according total no of accredited delegates.

However, 10 votes were not allotted but casted even though votes were allotted to candidates that indicated their withdrawal from the exercise or absent e.g Hon Onofiok Luke, Senator Albert and Mike Enyong aka Baban ntan.

It was later discovered online that it was NOT only 10 votes that were missing but also a candidate’s name was omitted in the name of Dr Ani Wellington even though he was present and accredited with His agent – Dr Donatus Udaette that brought the total no to 14 but reported 13 on the AKS PDP platform online, and the calculated votes to be 1008 instead of 1018.

Therefore, it’s a general believe now that the list read out there by the Chairman is different from the official tabulated list while the exercise was ongoing.

According to the video below, it was discovered that, the chairman, Rt Hon Philip Shaibu while announcing the results from his supposed list, skipped the third aspirant name of Mr Ide Owodiong, and went down the list to pronounced Dr Ani Gabriel Paul Wellington’s name as Dr Enank Gabriel P.W. with his full reading glasses on, As if he’s not being guided from the actual official list. Dr Enank and Dr Ani does not have anything in common.

It is therefore presumed that the list where the chairman made the announcement from was not the official list of all the aspirants who keenly contested for the Akwa Ibom PDP Guber Primaries.

It was gathered that, the attention of the state Party Chairman, Rt Hon Aniekan Akpan was drawn to this and he promised to sort it out given some time.

The attention of the Chairman of the Committee, Rt Hon Philip Shaibu was also called to the omission and he promised to speak with the committee’s secretary to correct the mistake as he was surprised such mistake could ever happened.

We also gathered by our correspondence that, in their bid to sort things out, the 14th name was inserted but with zero (0) vote this time with still missing 10 votes unaccounted for and that is to be sent to national headquarters in abuja today, though we are still waiting to get a copy as at when filling this report.
