Abia Speaker Extols Ohobo Okwulaga Community Over Projects

The Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji has described the people of Ohobo Okwulaga Afaraukwu in Ibeku ancient kingdom of Umuahia North LGA in Abia State as a very enterprising people whose bond of unity has seen them achieve a lot for themselves.

The Speaker stated this today while commissioning the community’s modern hall.

While commending the quality of the community hall, the Speaker who was the Special Guest of Honour said Ohobo people have proved that with unity, a community can achieve great things together and urged them to keep up their spirit of brotherhood.

The Speaker said having entrusted some people from the community with various responsibilities over time, he can attest to the fact that Ohobo community is made up of people of integrity and a high sense of duty.

He pledged to send a princely sum to the community in the coming week to support them in their projects.

On his part, Chairman of the occasion, Chief Okechukwu Ndukwe corroborated the Speaker’s sentiments about the people of Ohobo when he declared that they are a people of good virtues as he has had no reason to doubt their forthrightness since engaging with them in matters of critical importance requiring integrity. He expressed joy at being at the event which he said will challenge other communities in Ibekuland because of the high quality hall constructed by the people.

In his remarks, Chairman of Ohobo Okwulaga Afaraukwu, Chief Charles Offor, thanked the Speaker, the chairman of the occasion and all guests present at the event for coming out in their numbers to support the community. He prayed God to bless them in their respective endeavours, and used the opportunity to reel out the achievements of his administration which include youth and women empowerment, support to the elderly, substantial palliatives to the people during the COVID-19 pandemic, security of the community, completion of the community hall among other things.

He promised to do more for the people and the kindred before his second and final tenure ends in 2025.

Highpoint of the occasion was the commissioning of the community hall with cutting of the tape by the Speaker who was joined by dignitaries present.

Other guests who were present at the event are the Executive Chairman of Umuahia North LGA, Hon Ugochukwu Njikonye, the Honourable Commissioner for Documentation & Strategic Communications, Hon Ugochukwu N Emezue, the Leader of Umuahia North LGA Legislative Council, Hon Peter Iroegbu who led other members of the Council including Hon Andrew Donatus Uwaga, the General Manager of Abia State Community Social Development Agency (Abia CSDA), Dr Charles Njoku represented by Mr Maduagwu Stephen, a former Chairman of Abia State Board of Internal Revenue, Hon Udochukwu Ogbonna PhD, the Traditional Ruler of Okwulaga Afaraukwu, HRH Eze Edward Ibeabuchi, The Okwu 1 of Okwulaga Afaraukwu, The Traditional Ruler of Enyiukwu, HRH Sir P.K Ukaegbu, The Enyi 1 of Enyiukwu, the Chairman of Ibeku Traditional Rulers Council, HRH Eze Ezeigbo (Ochima), the Village Head of Ohobo Okwulaga, Chief Iroegbu Emma among other guests from the traditional institution. Others are Action Peoples Party, Peoples Democratic Party, All Progressives Congress and Labour Party aspirants for Umuahia Central State Constituency at the forthcoming general elections, Mr Uche Offor, Pastor Ugochukwu Uchegbu, Chief Maduakolam Kenneth Adighibe and Mr Anthony Chinasa-Abiola respectively, top government officials, members of the clergy, captains of industry, women and youth groups among others.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Chief Sir Jude Ndukwe is a native of Ohobo Okwulaga Afaraukwu.

The Speaker who was not in town as of the day of the event was represented by the member representing Umuahia South State Constituency at the Abia State House of Assembly and Founder, Ogecchi Cares, Hon. Jerry Uzosike .
