2023: I Will Salvage, Restore Abia To Prosperity Within Two Years – Dr Ngozika Johnson-Ogbuneke

Dr Ngozika Johnson-Ogbuneke

Ahead the General Elections, one of Abia State’s leading governorship candidates, Apostle Dr Ngozika Gladys Johnson-Ogbuneke of the SDP on Saturday declared that she will salvage and restore Abia State to prosperity within 24 months or resign if she fails

“Give me two years to prove what I can do and if in two years I cannot turn Abia around, I will resign and call for a bye-election”, she said during an interactive session with Abia Media Forum, AMF, an online platform of senior media practitioners and editors from the State.

Johnson-Ogbuneke explained that within that period, she will clear all salary arrears, some of which are already in arrears of more than 24 months, clear all pension arrears and lay appropriate foundation for the building of a prosperous and economically vibrant Abia. She further added that under her watch, deplorable and decrepit roads would be a thing of the past, as she would ensure the rehabilitation and reconstruction of all roads that would facilitate smooth thoroughfare for Abians “Even if it is Federal roads, we would rehabilitate it and ask for refund, all we want is to ensure smooth movement of Abians and our visitors across the State”, she noted

The SDP standard bearer, a Registrar in Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery lamented that 31 years after the creation of Abia and after over 23 years of democratic governance, the State cannot boast of a befitting Government House

She again raised the issue of declaration of assets by candidates and reiterated her readiness to declare her sources of income publicly and urged her opponents to equally come out openly and tell Abians their sources of income. She also noted that since she has no godfather funding her campaigns, the issue of payment to godfathers would not arise, thus the need for declaration of assets to ensure accountability in government.
