Hon Michael Chijioke Amaku Rolls Out Plans For Ariaria International Market, Aba

The newly appointed acting Chairman of Ariaria International Market, Hon Michael Chijioke Amaku also known as ‘MC Boss’ has rolled out plans for the market traders and its customers, profjaysblog reports.

Michael Chijioke Amaku was appointed the Acting Chairman of Ariaria International Market by the rebuilder, the Executive Governor of Abia State, Gov Okezie Victor Ikpeazu on the 7th of March, 2023.

Michael Chijioke Amaku has built and sustained a robust relationships and friendship across the nooks and crannies of the Market environs during his time as the chairman of a sub-union (Presidential Zone) of which his track records are still unbeatable. He was later appointed as a committee member and second (2nd) Vice Chairman of Ariaria International Market.

Later on, he became the first vice chairman of the market until he was spotted on by the Governor who appointed him the acting chairman weeks after the demise of the Chairman, Elder Emeka Igara who died at the age of 74 years.

Hon Michael who swung into actions immediately after his appointment toured the market with his team of executives and set up a meeting which comprises of the minor traders, major traders, patrons, stakeholders and his executives to discuss on the way forward and how to bring the market to an international standard. It was discovered that, there would be a need for the establishment of a health care centre in the market, a facility that will serve the traders and the customers who always visit the market from all over Nigeria and parts of the African countries. The health care centre if established, will provide a direct access to medical facilities to the traders and also customers.

Michael Amaku noted that, one of the major problems facing the market traders has always been the inability of the market leaderships to protect and bridge the gaps between them and the government. He further stated that, his administration will work hand in hand with the current government of Gov Okezie Ikpeazu in order to bridge the gap between the traders and the government, also get in touch the their problems, requests and challenges.

He assured the traders that, his administration will work with the Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Chief Hon John Okiyi Kalu and the contractor(s) currently handling the remodeling of the Ariaria International Market to see how the ongoing work can be sped up so that, the traders who were currently affected can be re-allocated a shop space once it’s completed.

Hon Michael also pointed out that, his administration has lifted up all the tolls, levies in the market and ordered all gates to be closed after 6:30pm. This is to enable his administration to view how things are going in the market and see how to better advise the government for a better way and as well for the interest of the traders.

Hon Michael has also ordered all sub unions and market executives to release all seized goods, products, etc back to the original owners free of charge irrespective of the period their goods were seized or impounded. All locked shops were also ordered to be re-openned so that the affected traders can go back to their businesses.
