Gov Alex Otti Approves Over 600 Abian Businesses To Be Registered Under CAC

Alex OttiAs part of efforts to boost the ease of doing business in Abia State, governor Alex Otti, has approved registration of 600 businesses (enterprises and ventures) under the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) at a subsidised rate of N5,000.

This was revealed by the Director, Small and Medium Scales Enterprise (SMEs) ministry of digital economy in Abia state, Mrs Chinyere Ruth Nwosu, while speaking at the 2nd day of the two-day round table on ease of doing business in Abia State organised by the office of the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Alex Otti on ease of doing business, co-founded by the European Union and United Nations Development Programme.

According to her, the registration before now, was between N15,000 and N20,000 but the governor thought it wise to help Abians register their businesses to help them grow and also get access to business grants and loans.

“Over 600 beneficiaries will benefit from this subsidised rate courtesy of our SME friend governor, Dr Alex Otti” she said.

To get registered under the subsidised rate, the ministry needs only your email address, functional identification card (voter’s card or NIN), and a passport.

Limited liability companies are not accommodated in the CAC registration at a subsidized.

She encouraged business owners and market leaders to send their names for registration at the ministry of digital economy situated at Abia investment house, opposite secretariat in Umuahia.

Speaking to ALL FACTS NEWSPAPER, AFNEWS after the event, a participant, HRH Ezem Dr I.S. Ibezim, the evuleukwu 2 of Umuosu autonomous community in Ubakala, Umuahia south local government area of Abia state, appreciated the organisers of the round table for the eye opening programme on ease ify doing business.

 

“We will go back to sensitise our people on the ease of doing business in Abia state, ways of accessing grants, registering our properties and also how to benefit from anything the government provides for the people” he stated.

He charged the state government to empower the traditional rulers to enhance security , empower the vigilante groups to also ensure that adequate security are in place which would also encourage investors to come into the state and do their businesses.

Giving a vote of thanks, the Special Adviser to the governor on ease of doing business, Mrs Lilian Ezinwa, appreciated governor Alex Otti, EU and UNDP for their commitment towards ensuring that Abia State has a conducive business environment.

Ezinwa expressed confidence that in a short time, Abia state will be the business hub of Africa.

Speaking also, the commissioner for trade, commerce and industry, Hon. Chimezie Ukaegbu, represented by Ambassador Nwadinobi Okezie noted that governor Alex Otti is keen on opening Abia state for business to compete with the likes of Lagos, Akwa Ibom state and others by creating an enabling environment for businesses, and boost the economy of the state.

He cited Abia domestic trade fair ongoing in Aba, and others, as ways by which the ministry is telling foreign investors that Abia State is open for business.
