Few years ago, Lagos was known as the only striving entertainment city in the country as many up and rising entertainers who look forward to surviving in the industry were migrating to the city in their tens to make a name for themselves in the entertainment sector.
As years went by and the dynamics of the industry started involving, the young ones keyed into the digital era and Port Harcourt city became the second entertainment hub in Nigeria. The industry started producing celebrities back here and one does not need to migrate to Lagos any longer before he/she can be a successful entertainer. For this to happen, some industry key players sacrificed their time, resources, intellectual, contacts and what have you to make it possible.
Mr Ifeanyi Godwin Enyioma also known as Uncle Pee was one of the industry key players that has stood the test of time and has contributed his own major quota to the entertainment industry in Port Harcourt and South South as a region.
On Sunday, the 12th of November, 2023, Uncle Pee stood tall as he anchored the 9th edition of the Global Merit Media Award, Nigeria (GMMAN). The Crème de la crème of the society were all in attendance as the venue of the event could not accommodate fans, well wishers and the supporters of those who have trooped in from their various destinations to give support to their mentors, friends and colleagues who’s on the award list.
The south south coordinator of the Global Merit Media Award Nigeria, Mr Ifeanyi Godwin Enyioma, emphatically told the audience with their aura the beginning of the organization and how it has recognized people in the society for their outstanding performances and contributions to their immediate environment and the society at large.
A brief introduction to the Global Merit Media Award Nigeria (GMMAN) would recognize it as a Non Governmental Organization, registered under the corporate affairs commission (CAC) and has carried out her duties according to the tenet of the law. GMMAN was birthed to encourage and recognize some Nigerians for their immersed contributions to the development of mankind, towards human capacity building, and the society at large.
According to the President of the organization, Hon Prince Godwin who reeled out the mission and vision statements of the organization during his opening address, he stressed that, the mission of GMMAN is to encourage the helpers of destiny and builders of good civil society through human capacity base development and empowerment to be identified, recognized and honoured in this manner of award conferment.
Going further, the outlined the vision statement of the organization as to reach out to the less privilege in the society, show care and encouragement regardless of culture, race and ethnicity.
The recipients of these award are men and women who have distinguished themselves in their various field of endeavor as they have become and expert in their chosen field and have decided to use their contacts to help the less privilege in the society without looking out for a future rewards.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of award to all the awardees with a cool music interlude, highly rated refreshments.
The event came to an end with a closing remark by Engr Chinedu Nworgu.
