The House of Representatives on Tuesday took a step towards the creation of a new local government area in Abia State under the South-East geo-political zone of the country.
The lawmakers on the floor of the House during Tuesdays plenary passed first reading (HB 1524) a Bill to alter the constitution of federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as altered) and to provide the creation of UTURU-CHIEZE Local Government Area out of the present Isuikwuato and Umunneochi local government Area of Abia State.
The bill sponsored by the member representing Isuikwuato / Umunneochi Federal Constituency, Abia State, Rt Hon Amobi Godwin Ogah is now set for a second reading.
