The Clan Head of Ukpum Ete, in Ikot Abasi LGA, Akwa Ibom State, His Royal Highness Etebom Nsikan Etukudom made this call on Wednesday 1st January, 2025 at the grand finale of the 2024 Ukpum Ete Unity Cup sponsored by Uwem Sunday James Foundation.
HRH expressed gratitude to the organizers and sponsors for supporting grassroot sports development and harnessing the potential of the youths in sports.
He used the opportunity to call on other well meaning Nigerians, Corporate Bodies and NGOs to emulate the Uwem Sunday James Foundation’s efforts in unifying her people, touching lives and developing human capacity at the community level.
In his remark, the sponsor, Mr. Uwem Sunday James, expressed excitement at the quality of players and skills showcased during the tournament as, he is confident they can make clubs playing at the National leagues and even the National team.
He therefore urged the youths to continue to develop their skills, build their capacities, shun negative vices and be rest assured of a brighter future.
The 2024 edition of the Ukpum Ete Unity Cup Competition came to end with an electrifying final match between Abasiute and Umeneke 1 villages, saw Abasiute village emerging as the 2024 champions from penalty shootout after a hard forth one all draw at full time.
Wining teams went home with N100,000, N70,000 and N50,000 for 1st, 2nd & 3rd positions respectively with medals and trophies presented to all categories.
The ceremony was graced by dignitaries in Ukpum Ete Clan including the past President of Mboho Ukpum Ete, Engr. Nsima Edittu and other sports lovers in Akwa Ibom State.
