As Nigeria commemorates Democracy Day, Hon. Iheanyi Frank Chinasa, Abia State Liaison Officer to the National Assembly, has extended warm felicitations to Nigerians, celebrating the steady progress of democracy at both national and state levels.
In a statement, Hon. Chinasa reflected on the significance of June 12, describing it as a reminder of the sacrifices made by heroes in the fight for freedom, equity, and the right to choose leaders. He emphasized that democracy encompasses not just voting, but also the dignity of being heard, equal opportunity, and leadership accountability.
Highlighting Abia State’s progress under Governor Alex Chioma Otti’s transformative leadership, Hon. Chinasa noted that democracy has taken on a tangible form, with transparent governance and people-centered policies yielding tangible results. “In Abia State, democracy is no longer a slogan but a living, working reality,” he stated, citing rebuilt roads, revitalized healthcare, reimagined education, and a reinvigorated economy.
Hon. Chinasa called on Nigerians to draw inspiration from Abia’s progress and remain committed to supporting good governance and democratic ideals. “Let this Democracy Day renew our collective commitment to protect and deepen the gains of our democracy,” he concluded.
