Since his declaration as the member representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency of Abia State at the National Assembly, Hon Amobi Ogah has been engulfed in one legal battle or the other. These legal battles are coming from his Predecessor, the current Minister of State for Labour and Productivity – Barr Mrs Nkiruka Onyejeocha.
The latest incident involves charges filed in court, accusing Hon Amobi Ogah of false declaration under oath, publishing injurious falsehoods, perjury, and criminal defamation.
Watchers, community opinion leaders and human rights organizations, including HURIWA have described Barr Nkiruka Onyejeocha’s accusations as baseless and fueled by a personal vendetta from Onyejeocha. A stakeholder from Umunneochi Local Government Area, Chief Azuka, “it is very unfortunate that even after spending 16 years of uninterrupted stay at the National Assembly, our Sister, Barr Onyejeocha refused to allow the will of the people to stand since the election was concluded”
A prominent human rights watch group, HURIWA, notes that Onyejeocha has refused to accept her electoral loss and is using her former legal counsel, now the Minister of Justice, to pursue a vendetta against Ogah.
Recall that after his declaration by Court as the duly elected House of Representative member, Hon Amobi Ogah has been subjected to what many watchers described as political harassment and unending court cases.
