$650,000 Scam: Court Jails Oguntayo Samod, 29 to Three Months Imprisonment

Mr Oguntayo Samod, 29 years old has been sentenced to three months imprisonment for fraud related activities by Justice Mohammed Abubakar of the Federal High Court in Abeokuta, Ogun State, profjaysblog reports.

Profjaysblog discovered that Justice Mohammed Abubakar gave the judgement on the 26th of June 2020.

The offence is contrary to Section 22(2) (b) (ii) of the Cyber Crimes (Prohibition, Prevention Etc) Act, 2015, and punishable under Section 22 (2) of the same Act.

The 29-year old convict, who claimed to be a businessman, was prosecuted by the Ibadan Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

Apart from the prison term, Justice Abubakar also ordered Oguntayo Samod to restitute the sum of USD$650 (Six Hundred and Fifty United States Dollars) to his victim, Cynthia Deison. He equally forfeited his iPhone X to the federal government as proceeds of crime.
