Isuikwuato District Should Be Considered When Power Returns to Abia North – Sen Emma Nwaka

Senator Emma Nwaka played host to members of Abia North Unity Group, a non-partisan Group in his country home at Omaokwe, Amiyi, Oguduasa in Isuikwuato LGA on the 27th of May, 2021, profjaysblog gathered.

In his speech, the Coordinator of the Group Barr. James Okpara thanked all present and showed his appreciation to Senator Nwaka for receiving the group. He reiterated that the group was on a courtesy visit to brief him on their mission, which is to ensure that Abia North Senatorial District produces the next Governor of Abia State. He went further to state that their visit was actuated by the fact that they hold him in high esteem on account of his pedigree and sense of justice.

While making their contributions, Mazi Donatus Okorie, Hon. Chief P.C. Onyegbu, Chief Ndidi Okereke, Chief George Nnanna Kalu among others, took turns to affirm the position of their Coordinator and promised their unity of purpose and wider and strategic consultations across the lenght and breath of Abia State to ensure the objective of the group is achieved. They went further to say that they are bent on producing a governor of Abia North extraction who will not only develop the zone but also give a sense of belonging to the other zones and ensure they receive their fair share of democracy dividends. They equally urged all the political parties to look towards Abia North in search of their gubernatorial candidates and admonished sons and daughters of Abia North not to play a second fiddle by accepting deputy governorship position in the build up to the 2023 governorship election.

Senator Nwaka during his response thanked them for the honour of their visit. He said that the non-partisan composition of the Group is an eloquent testimony that irrespective of political differences, politicians can come together to achieve a noble cause. He equally noted that their objective is in synchrony with the ideals set down by the founding fathers of the State in the Abia Charter of Equity. He maintained that it is logical for power to return to Abia North in 2023 since the two other zones of the State have taken their turn. He added that when you count one to three and decide to start counting afresh, you do not start at the middle or from the end. He equally reminded them that while searching for a Governor of Abia North extraction, they should ensure that it is someone that is acceptable across other senatorial zones of the State. He was also quick to add that the Isuikwuato District being the only one left out so far among the four blocs that constitute the State yet to occupy the position of Governor, should be given favourable consideration when power returns to Abia North.

Senator Emma Nwaka finally wished them travel mercies as they journey back to their various destinations even as he promised to support them in their noble quest.
