Abia State House of Assembly Plenary for Wednesday, 16th November, 2022

Welcome to another Legislative Day in the 7th Abia State House of Assembly.

The Speaker, Rt Hon Engr Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji led Principal Officers into the hallowed chamber.

Hon Chukwu Chijioke, Minority Leader and Member representing Bende North State Constituency led the opening prayer.

The Abia State House of Assembly commenced plenary after the adoption of Votes and Proceedings of Tuesday, 4th October 2022.

HIGHLIGHTS

NOTICE OF PRESENTATION OF BILLS

H.A.B. 60: The Abia State 2022 Supplementary Appropriation Bill, 2022

A Bill for a Law to make Supplementary Provision of the sum of Twenty One Billion, Three Hundred and Ninety Eight Million, Eighty Six Thousand and Eight Hundred Naira ( N21,398,086,800.00 ) Only for the services of the Government of Abia State of Nigeria for the year ending 31st Day of December, 2022.

Accordingly, after going through legislative processes and in a motion moved by the Majority Leader and seconded by the Minority Leader, H.A.B.60, passed the First Reading.

H.A.B. 61: The Abia State Female Persons Right of Inheritance of Property Bill, 2022.

A Bill for a Law to provide for the Right of Female Persons to Own and Inherit Property, sponsored by the Speaker, Rt Hon Engr Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji.

Accordingly, after going through outstanding legislative processes and in a motion moved by the Majority Leader and seconded by the Minority Leader, H.A.B. 61, was passed into Law.

Other Items on the Order Paper were deferred to be considered on another Legislative Day.

ADJOURNMENT

Hon Solomon Akpulonu, Majority Leader of the House, moved that plenary be adjourned to another Legislative Day.

The Minority Leader seconded the motion.

Plenary was thereby adjourned to Tuesday, 22nd November, 2022.
