The Rivers State Chapter of African Women Lawyers Association, Resumes Activities With Title Loving Sisterhood: A Panacea For Professional Growth And A Healthier You

The Rivers State Chapter of African Women Lawyers Association (AWLA) held her general meeting at the Multi Purpose Hall, NBA Branch House, Port Harcourt at 1pm on the 16th of March, 2023 with an advancement session titled; Loving Sisterhood: A Panacea For Professional Growth And A Healthier You”, profjaysblog gathered.

The monthly general meeting was garnished with a Love Feast and members who were in attendance were adorned in their regulation dresses with red roses as a symbol of love.

The meeting had one of the partners of AWLA, Dr. Mercy Abu Bello who is a clarity coach, the President and Global Convener of Enterprenual Platform Initiative (EPI).

Dr. Mercy Abu Bello charged and urged all members not to be lone voices, but speak together as a common front, that way, collectively their voices and actions would be louder and more visible.

The resource person for the advancement session, Dr. (Rev.) Blessing Nkeiruka Jonathan the commandant of Women Arise International Fellowship and Foundation (WAIF) spoke extensively on the topic of the day and the environment was charged beyond expectations.

According to Dr. Blessing Nkeiruka Jonathan, you cannot do it alone, you need a lovely sisterhood, mentorship to get to the very top of your carrier and a supportive sisterhood to improve mental well being and a healthy life.

She encouraged AWLANS to be their sisters keeper by looking out for themselves and creating time to play.

The advancement session which was initiated and has been running since the administration of Dr. Hilda Desmond-Ihekaire, is aimed at empowering members to be better at what they do, as you cannot give what you don’t have.

There were rewards for early birds both for last year’s get together titled “Let’s Play Togetger”and the meeting, four members were presented with gifts by the Coordinator.

The high point of the event was the birthday celebration of Coordinator, Hilda Desmond-Ihekaire.
The meeting was wrapped up with the love feast that left members with an array of native delicacies like banga soup, starch, owo soup and eba, abacha aka (African salad), etc to choose from; and prayers rededicating the EXCO and members for service by the resource person.

AWLA Rivers is a place where love is truly beyond words.

The Coordinator, ended the meeting by encouraging all AWLANS to participate in the Saturday Gubernatorial elections by comming out to exercise their franchise and vote candidates of their choice particularly women.
