Former Governor of Abia State and the current senator representing the good people of Abia North Senatorial District under All Progressive Congress (APC), Sen Orji Uzor Kalu has fulfilled his promises of distributing solar powered street lights to about 48 communities across his constituency, Umuokogbuo-Eluama inclusive, pjtvnews reports.
Recall that, Sen Orji through his media office released a statement sometimes in June to distribute, install and power about 48 communities in Abia North with Solar lights. It was revealed that, the solar power project was meant to light up dark places around communities, increase social and economic activities and reduce criminal activities in these beneficiary communities. The next phase of the project will benefit other communities not yet on the list of the communities under review.
Among all the communities listed as the beneficiaries of the solar power project, Umuokogbuo Autonomous Community was assigned ten (10) poles of the solar light which was to be mounted along Rufus Obi road in the community. This inclusion was made possible with the intervention, appeal and follow up by Chief Dr Onyinye Kay Rufus-Obi to Sen Orji on behalf of the community.
Pjtvnews can confirm that, as at 25th of July, 2023, all the ten (10) poles of the solar lights as assigned to the community have been installed in Umuokogbuo Autonomous Community and they are all in good working conditions. This is simply, a promise made, a promise fulfilled.
The President General of Umuokogbuo Development Union, Mr Chiweike Francis Udeagu while speaking with our correspondent on phone, thanked the Senator for fulfilling one of the promises made to “ndi umuokogbuo” during his campaign and also appeal to him to remember the community on the other promises made patterning the road and employment opportunities to our youths.
He went further to state that, the community is lucky and fortunate to have somebody like Sen Orji as her Senator at the red chamber and is sure, he will make his constituency proud and make laws that will further benefit the common people of Abia North, he concluded.
