Few years ago, when Hon Barr Nkeiruka Onyejeocha was elected to represent the good people of Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency in 2007 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), they never anticipated that their collective resources will someday be allegedly mismanaged and misused by the same person elected to represent them.
Onyejeocha spent an unchallenged 16 years at the green chamber not until she was unanimously removed by the collective decisions of the people of Isuikwuato/Umunneochi in the last general elections.
During the build up of the 2019 elections, she decamped to All Progressive Congress (APC) in August of 2018 when she was alleged to be having issues with the state which was then, under the control of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The former deputy chief whips at the green chamber was elected again in 2019 where she slightly escaped a political earthquake but was “brought down” by the tsunami eruption that swept most politicians away in the last general elections with the awakened obedient movements.
Onyejeocha was finally rejected at the 2023 polls after spending 16 years as a federal legislator under the All Progressive Congress (APC) after a series of attempts to unseat her failed.
She was perceived to be one of the working legislatures of Abia extraction within the period she spent at the green chamber but recent documents making round the media shows otherwise.
In the document made available to pjtvnews correspondent, and titled “extract of 2022/2023 ongoing and new projects for Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency Abia State” shows about 28 projects suspected to have been funded by the federal government through the former law maker, Hon Barr Nkeiruka Onyejeocha. Out of the 28 projects listed in the document, twenty two (22) are new while six (6) are ongoing projects.
In the document also, the ministry, agency, project name, project code/status and the amounts of each of the projects were clearly stated. By our rough calculations, the amounts of the total projects are in billions and the questions people have been asking is, where are the projects domiciled in Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency?.
Pundits are of the opinion that, this and many more might be one of the reasons why the former law maker has refused to step down from the house of representatives position over the years before she was finally beaten and retired by Chief Amobi Ogah of Labour Party and the recent appeal court judgement.
According to Chief Amobi Ogah and other concerned citizens, the former lawmaker and the current State minister of labour and employment has been called upon to account for the 2022/2023 constituency projects under her watch.
