Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Mustapha Mohammed Bala Pays Courtesy Visit to GOC, 6 Division, Port Harcourt

The Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command, CP Mustapha Mohammed Bala, psc, accompanied by senior officers of the command, paid a courtesy visit to the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division, Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt, Maj Gen JH Abdussalam, on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. The CP and his delegation were warmly received by the GOC and senior officers of the division.

During the visit, CP Bala expressed gratitude for the reception extended to him and his team. He emphasized the purpose of the visit, which was to further strengthen the existing collaboration between the Police and the Nigerian Army in combating crime and criminality in Rivers State. The CP reiterated that the police alone cannot tackle crime effectively and stressed the importance of working in close synergy with the military and other security agencies to maintain peace and order in the state. He further highlighted that a breakdown of law and order will draw blame on every security agency in the state.

The GOC commended the efforts of the Rivers State Police Command in its crime-fighting strategies and assured the CP of the military’s full cooperation in reducing crime to its barest minimum. He emphasized that a harmonious relationship between all security agencies is crucial to ensuring a peaceful environment and that in the event of any security breakdown, all agencies would share responsibility.

Additionally, the GOC highlighted the availability of the military’s training facilities, which could be utilized by the police if needed, as well as social facilities such as their mess. He further assured that any military personnel found involved in criminal activities would be handed over to the police for appropriate action.
