Senator Emma Nwaka mourns as Isuochi Ancient Kingdom Monarch, Eze Irononso Ezekwesiri Dies

The 2023 Abia State Governorship aspirant, Sen Emma Nwaka mourned as Eze Irononso Ezekwesiri died at the age of 88 years, pjtvnews reports.

The death of Eze Irononso Ezekwesiri was confirmed to Sen Emma Nwaka by his son, Ikedi Ezekwesiri. Ezedi was a former state legislator in Abia State.

Ezekwesiri was crowned the Eze of Isuochi Ancient Kingdom in 1974 as the first monarch in Isuochi and reigned for over five decades before going to meet with his ancestors

Reacting to the death of Eze Irononso Ezekwesiri, Sen Emma Nwaka expressed sadness that, the monarch died at a time he was most needed around especially for the younger generation.

Nwaka narrated how the late Eze rooted for him during his journey to the Senate in 1992 and also stood by him throughout the period.

He hinted further that, he, late Eze Irononso Ezekwesiri and the former military administrator of old Imo State, Navy Cmdre AE Oguguo, Rtd appeared before a Senate Committee to make a case for the creation of an additional state in the southeast.

As a sole traditional ruler in Isuochi, the late Ezekwesiri never resisted the government’s decision to balkanize the Isuochi Ancient Kingdom which was a testament to his large heartedness.

He further stated that, late Ezekwesiri was in the vanguard for the creation of an additional State in the south east.

Senator Nwaka’s respects are a testament to the high esteem in which Eze Ezekwesiri was held. As a stateman in Abia State, Senator Nwaka’s condolences carry significant weight, reflecting the deep admiration for Eze Ezekwesiri’s life and legacy.

The passing of Eze Irononso Ezekwesiri at 88 years marks the end of an era, leaving behind a trail of memories, achievements, and a community that will deeply miss him, he concluded.
