The second edition of the Ukpum Ete Unity Cup, sponsored by the Uwem Sunday James Foundation (USJF), officially kicked off on Sunday, 7 December 2025, with an impressive opening ceremony that drew community leaders, youths, football enthusiasts, and supporters of grassroots sports development.
The Chairman of the USJF, Uwem Sunday James, performed the ceremonial kickoff to declare the tournament open, reaffirming the Foundation’s commitment to youth empowerment, community development, and the promotion of unity through sports.
This year’s edition, scheduled to run from 7 December 2025 to 1 January 2026, features teams across the Ukpum Ete Clan competing for top honours and prize packages.
Speakingt the event, the Chairman described the tournament as a “strategic platform to nurture local talent, foster peaceful coexistence, and strengthen the bonds that hold communities together.”
The opening match kicked off immediately after the ceremony, marking the beginning of several weeks of thrilling grassroots football action.
The tournament continues with fixtures expected to engage the entire clan throughout the festive season.
