I wish to commend Dr. Ngozika Johnson-Chukwunenye, former Governorship Candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the 2023 Abia State Governorship Election, for her courage, maturity and patriotism in recognising the progress being made under the leadership of His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, Executive Governor of Abia State.
Her decision to realign with Governor Otti and support his development agenda for the 2027 Governorship Election is a significant demonstration that the interest of Abia must rise above political differences and past affiliations.
Dr. Johnson-Chukwunenye has acknowledged the visible transformation taking place across the State, including improvements in infrastructure, roads, workers’ welfare, pension obligations, sanitation and the broader effort to restore dignity and confidence in governance.
I therefore welcome and endorse her new position.
Politics should ultimately be about service to the people. When evidence of progress becomes visible, responsible stakeholders should have the courage to acknowledge it, irrespective of where they stood politically yesterday.
This is not simply about one politician changing political alignment. It is about Abia.
It is about sustaining the momentum of development, strengthening what is working, correcting what needs improvement, and building a State that offers greater opportunities and a better future for our children.
Dr. Ngozika Johnson-Chukwunenye, I commend your decision to put the future of Abia above the politics of yesterday.
As we approach 2027, may more Abians come together around the common objective of building a more prosperous, productive, peaceful and forward-looking Abia State.
Abia is bigger than any individual.
Abia is bigger than any political party.
The future of Abia must come first.
