Following the official inauguration of the Abia State Labour Party Governorship Campaign Council, the National Secretary of the party, Honorable Iheanacho ‘Acho’ Obioma, has extended warm congratulations to the newly inaugurated leadership and members, describing their appointment as a rare privilege to serve a transformative vision.
The campaign council, led by the former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly and Pro-Chancellor of Abia State University, Rt. Hon. Agwu U. Agwu, as Director-General, was officially inaugurated on Monday, October 5, 2026, by Executive Governor Dr. Alex C. Otti, OFR, at the packed Michael Okpara Auditorium in Umuahia.
Reacting to the successful inauguration, the LP National Secretary commended Governor Otti for assembling an executive team of competent, seasoned, and dedicated political strategists.
Hon. Obioma charged the Rt. Hon. Agwu U. Agwu-led council to view their appointment not merely as an honor, but as a high-stakes call to duty that demands maximum dedication, strategic focus, and uncompromising result-delivery.
“This appointment is a rare opportunity given to you to drive the continuation of governance excellence in Abia State,” Hon. Obioma stated. “Members of the Labour Party, the leadership, and indeed the entire people of Abia State expect nothing short of exemplary performance and total commitment from this council to deliver victory.”
Elaborating on the campaign council’s task, Hon. Obioma pointed out that marketing the Labour Party candidate will be a rewarding exercise because Governor Alex C. Otti is already a “good, self-selling product” whose performance resonates across Abia State and Nigeria.
He noted that unlike conventional campaign councils that struggle with unfulfilled promises, the Agwu U. Agwu-led council goes into the field backed by verifiable empirical evidence—ranging from urban renewal and massive road infrastructure across Aba and Umuahia to healthcare revitalization, educational reforms, prompt payment of pensions and salaries, and improved security.
“Governor Alex Otti is a good product recognized by Abians and Nigerians at large,” Obioma emphasized. “The people of Abia do not need to be told stories; they can see, touch, and feel what the governor has accomplished in less than three years. You are marketing a product with visible proof, and that makes your job clear, smooth, and impactful.”
Aligned with the charge delivered by Governor Otti during Monday’s inauguration at the Michael Okpara Auditorium, the National Secretary strictly advised the campaign council to maintain an issue based approach throughout the electioneering period.
He urged the council to steer clear of smear tactics, propaganda, or personal insult, emphasizing that a government with a solid record of performance only needs to present facts, data, and policy continuity to win the confidence of the electorate.
