The Labour Party in Abia State wishes to make important clarifications regarding recent political activities and public perceptions surrounding the Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Our attention has been drawn to recent political gatherings held in Umunneochi Local Government Area, including campaign banners and mobilization materials bearing the image of His Excellency, Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, alongside candidates and political figures from other political parties.
As a democratic party, the Labour Party recognizes and respects the constitutional rights of individuals, groups and political stakeholders to freely associate, support candidates of their choice and participate actively in the democratic process. The party is not opposed to lawful political engagements by any individual or organization.
However, in view of the need to provide proper guidance to our teeming supporters, members and the general public, the Abia State, Labour Party considers it necessary to clearly state its official position in order to avoid confusion, misinformation or wrong political interpretations.
The Labour Party officially recognizes only Honorable Amobi Godwin Ogah as its duly elected member, representative and political figure for the Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency in relation to the 2027 House of Representatives race.
Hon. Amobi Ogah remains a committed and dedicated member of the Labour Party who has continued to distinguish himself through effective representation, loyalty to the party and commitment to the ideals and vision of the New Abia project championed by Governor Alex Otti.
The party therefore calls on all members, supporters and stakeholders of the Labour Party within Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency and across Abia State to remain united and continue to support Hon. Amobi Ogah as the party’s recognized political representative in the constituency.
We also appreciate the growing goodwill, acceptance and popularity of Governor Alex Otti across political divides and among different groups within and outside Abia State. His performance in office has continued to attract admiration from various quarters, which further reflects the confidence many Nigerians now place in purposeful leadership and good governance.
The Labour Party remains focused on strengthening its structures, promoting unity among members and consolidating on the achievements already recorded under the leadership of Governor Alex Otti.
