In a move seen as both strategic and symbolic, Hon Eberechi Austine Udeagu has been inaugurated into a dual role as a board member and assistant coach of Abia State Athletics Association, pjtvnews gathered.
The inauguration which took place at Umuahia Township Stadium was performed by the Deputy Governor of Abia State, His Excellency, Engr Ikechukwu Emetu and other dignitaries present.
Udeagu, a former councilor and a youth mobilizer in Isuikwuato LGA is no stranger to grassroots development known for his catch-them-young drive during sports activities in Isuikwuato and also in Abia State in general. Udeagu has discovered many Abia youths in sports and also other areas and introduced to the ministry for proper guide.
Speaking immediately after he was inaugurated in Umuahia, Udeagu said as an assistant coach, he would be on the field, shaping the next generation of athletes ahead of the National Sport Festival and any other competitions that will place the state on the map with the help of the head coach.
The Deputy Governor who represented Gov Alex Chioma Otti advised the newly inaugurated board members to place the state first in their decision and represent the Governor in all their actions as people see the Gov through them.
The Commissioner for Sports, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Sports, Special Adviser to the Governor were all present during the inauguration.
