A political pressure group under the umbrella of the Abia Rejoice Movement has accused the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State of hypocrisy and double standards over issues relating to support for Governor Alex Otti.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the group alleged that former Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Uche Ogah, was heavily criticized and suspended by the party after openly calling on Abians to support Governor Alex Otti for a second term.
According to the group, the same APC leadership that reacted angrily to Dr. Ogah’s position has now remained silent over what it described as attempts by Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha to politically align with Governor Alex Otti’s growing popularity while pursuing her political ambition.
The group questioned what it called the selective application of party discipline and standards within the Abia APC.
“When Dr. Uche Ogah openly supported Governor Alex Otti, he was attacked, criticized, and suspended. Today, those same voices have gone quiet while others strategically reference the Governor for political advantage,” the statement noted.
The Abia Rejoice Movement argued that recent political developments have indirectly validated the earlier position taken by Dr. Uche Ogah, insisting that political truth does not change based on who speaks it.
The group further stated that the situation has exposed internal contradictions and inconsistencies within the APC leadership structure in the state.
The statement also revisited the performance of Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha during her years in the House of Representatives, claiming that many constituents in Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency still question the level of transformation achieved during her tenure.
According to the group, political longevity should be measured by visible impact, grassroots connection, and tangible development rather than years spent in office.
The group maintained that the people of the constituency are politically aware and capable of distinguishing between genuine leadership and political opportunism.
The statement concluded by urging politicians to embrace consistency, fairness, and sincerity in political engagement, stressing that history often vindicates those who speak from conviction rather than convenience.
