Abia State Speaker, Hon Chikwendu Kalu has directed the Abia State Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA) to complete the removal and evacuation of the refuse around Ubakala-Ntigha junction along the Port Harcourt-Enugu Expressway within seven days.
This followed a matter of urgent public importance brought before it by the member representing Umunneochi State Constituency, Hon Prince Ikedi Ezekwesiri during plenary. Speaking on the matter, Prince Ezekwesiri pointed out that the situation had hampered the pace of work on the section of the road and called on the House intervention.
Some of the members who spoke on the matter including, the Majority Leader, Mr Chinedum Orji and the House Committee Chairman on Environment, Mr Kelechi Onuzuruike explained that a new dump site has been acquired by ASEPA noting that evacuation was ongoing and the dump site will be cleared in no time.
